Hamburg Süd said next month it will start offering two new services from the Mexican port of Manzanillo to the west coast of Central America.
The German liner carrier said the new services are part of a restructuring of its west coast Central America service, which "will purposefully add the growing markets in Central America to the Hamburg Süd Asia – Latin America west coast service and the two west coast North America services."
One sling will connect Manzanillo with Acajutla in El Salvador, Corinto in Nicaragua and Puerto Caldera in Costa Rica. The first sailing for this sling will be with the 860-TEU ship Falmouth from Manzanillo on Jan. 9.
The second sling will connect Manzanillo to Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala. With the inclusion of the a new service between the U.S. West Coast, Ecuador and Peru, Hamburg Süd said it will call Puerto Quetzal twice a week. This service will begin with the the sailing of the 900-TEU Oberon on Jan. 10.
